I Dread The Next Two Years

Republicans (and Evangelical Christians) in the U.S. have become just as intolerant as the Taliban when it comes to things like abortion rights and LGBTQ rights and immigrants and on and on. They’re saying “We won a mandate! It’s our way or the highway.” I have a feeling of dread about what will happen in the next two years.

When I was a child, Barry Goldwater was the Republican nominee for President in 1964. He lost to LBJ by a ton. But Goldwater didn’t hate Jewish people (he had Jewish ancestors) or gay people (he had a grandson who was gay). He was more of a libertarian who believed government should  leave people alone and let people do what makes them happy (which I agree with as a general rule). He also wanted to lower taxes (which I disagree with as a general rule).

Nowadays the Republican party hates freedom and hates anyone who is different. Republicans hate happiness. And they want to lower taxes for rich people, because they live in a very crazy suburb of crazy town. Trump’s tariffs on foreign goods will increase inflation. Rich people will pay less income tax. Poor and middle class people will pay more tax (because of tariffs).

When the 2026 election rolls around, I think people will be sick and tired of Trump. He will probably crash the economy. And he’ll probably still be babbling about the late great Hannibal Lecter. What a fool he is!

In 2026, I think Democrats will win the House and Senate.
