No, that’s not let’s go Brandon. I know that Let’s Go Brandon would have attracted more immediate notice, but I don’t like clickbait any more than you do.
So, it’s Let’s Beat Barry!
For those not old enough to remember Barry Goldwater, you can find extensive information about him and his life on Wikipedia.
The main part of his political career that I want to focus on is his presidential candidacy in 1964 against Lyndon Johnson. Barry Goldwater was a conservative Republican U.S. Senator from Arizona when he decided to run for the presidency. To say that his candidacy was unpopular would be an understatement. When the votes were counted he received only 38% of the popular vote, and won only his home state of Arizona plus five other states. Many at the time, and even still, view this as a debacle and embarrassment of the Republican party.
Why revisit this 60 year old history today?
Because we have another opportunity as a county to do even better! There is a lot of enthusiasm and financial support for the Harris/Walz ticket. But, let us not become complacent. Dollars and crowds are not votes! Votes count, not dollars! We have a glorious and historic opportunity to make that point to the other party’s billionaire donors this year as they pour their money into a lost cause.
If we make an effort and follow through with our commitment to vote for Harris/Walz this year, we can eclipse Barry’s win in only six states. In my opinion it would be fitting to make TFG the biggest loser in Republican presidential history. An award he richly deserves!
When they are down, we need to kick them hard, and where it hurts! Our goal should be to beat Barry’s record this year, and our rallying cry can simply be Let’s Beat Barry!
Vote!
